Matching gifts is when your employer matches an employee charitable donation.  It is an incredibly powerful way to increase the impact of your donation to the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame at no additional cost to you. Please check with your company’s human resources department to see if your company participates in an employee matching gifts program.

HONOR OR MEMORIAL GIFTS

Many of us look for ways to honor friends, celebrate the memory of a loved one and/or mark an important event in our life.  If music was important to you or your loved one, a commemorative gift to the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame and Museum is a thoughtful way to treasure the memory.

The Hall of Fame will provide a personalized card in acknowledgment of a Memorial Gift and send it to the individual or family being remembered.

PLANNING GIFTS

Do you want to preserve our state’s music history for future generations?  Would you like to be a part of a “living museum” that supports the future growth of music in our state?  Planned gifts are a key way to help the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame achieve these goals . There are many options for planned giving to the Hall of Fame and no minimum to what you can give.  Below are a few prime examples of ways you may make a charitable donation through planned giving.

There are a numerous advantages to making a planned gift depending on the assets you donate and gift arrangement you make.

Bequest

A bequest is a gift that donors choose to make as part of their estate planning process through their will or another binding arrangement.

Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity is an agreement in which the Hall of Fame agrees to pay you a fixed income for the remainder of your life once you make a donation to the Hall of Fame, thus allowing you to protect your financial security while making a timely contribution. If you are married, your spouse can also be guaranteed the same fixed income for his or her life.

Charitable Lead Trust

A charitable lead trust provides income to the Hall of Fame for a period of years, after which the trust property reverts to you or, more typically, is passed to your heirs. It is often used to transfer assets including stocks, bonds, and income-producing real estate that are expected to appreciate in value. Even if the assets increase in value during the time they are held by the trust, the heirs or recipients of the trust are only taxed on the original value of the assets when it reverts to them.

Charitable Remainder Trust

A charitable remainder trust is an agreement between you and the Hall of Fame in which your assets are irrevocably transferred to a trustee (other than the Hall of Fame) and managed as an individual investment fund. You or the beneficiaries of your estate can receive payments from that fund for a term of up to twenty years. At the end of the life of the trust, the remainder is transferred to the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame.

Gifts of Real Estate

Gifts of real estate can be an effective tool to ensure that your home, rental units, or other property will support the Hall of Fame while providing you with excellent tax benefits.

Your planned gift can help support the endowment, the Hall of Fame’s general operation, or be applied to particular programs.   For more information regarding planned gifts, contact us at 704-934-2320 or info(at)northcarolinamusichalloffame.org.
